One of the ways the Obama Administration is trying to undo the damage done to the US economy by so many years of "trickle down" economics: close tax loopholes for the largest corporations:

Think about it, if the US corporate tax rate is set at 35%, but some corporations are allowed to pay only 5%, that means the US taxpayers are subsidizing the profits of those companies via corporate welfare. This unduly harms not just the US taxpayers, but also US corporations that play by the rules, or are too small to exploit "voodoo economics" loopholes.

What happens when taxpayer money is funneled to large corporations to boost their profits? The everyday taxpayer has to pay more. Eliminate the loophole, and the rank-and-file pay less taxes.
