Pillar of the new party platform

Why is this becoming a pillar of the Republican party platform?

It's safe to say that I don't understand some of the new Republican motivations. Here they go again, this time in Massachusetts. Why does the GOP consistently attack the victim of this particular kind of crime?

"In 2005, [Republican candidate Scott Brown] sponsored legislation to allow doctors and nurses to turn away rape victims from Massachusetts emergency rooms"

Brown added “It’s not about the victim."

Uh, yes Mr. Brown, it is. You may choose not to believe it, but it's a horrible crime.

So they're admitting that it IS a choice. This is a dramatic turnaround from Palin previously repeating the anti-choice and anti-reproductive rights rhetoric of the Republican Party.
